We Buy Jap Imports is a trading name of The Transport Buyer Ltd. We're the data controller for the personal details you give us through this website. Last updated October 2026.
What we collect
- Details about your car: registration or chassis number, make, model, mileage, condition, paperwork, notes and any photos you upload.
- Your contact details: name, mobile number, email address, postcode and how you'd like us to contact you.
- Anything you tell us by phone, WhatsApp or email.
Why we use it
We use these details to value your car, send you an offer, arrange collection and pay you. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, and then performing that contract. We'll also keep records we're legally required to keep, such as sale and accounting records.
We don't use your details for marketing and we don't sell or share them with third parties for their own use.
Who processes it for us
Our website and form are hosted by Netlify, which stores form submissions on our behalf. We may also use email and messaging providers to reply to you. These providers only process your data on our instructions.
How long we keep it
If you don't sell your car to us, we delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you do, we keep the sale records for as long as the law requires (normally six years for tax purposes).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email info@cashinmycar.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This site doesn't set any cookies of its own. If we add analytics in future, we'll ask for your consent first.
